Influence of macrofiber orientation on the fatigue properties of rings made of heat-resistant titanium alloy of the Ti–Al–Sn–Zr–Mo–V–Nb–Fe–Si–(O–C) system (grade VT46)
Abstract
The fatigue properties and crack resistance of solid-rolled rings made of VT46 titanium alloy were investigated. The influence of macrostructure inhomogeneity and microfiber orientation on mechanical properties was established. It was shown that despite the overall stability of strength properties, anisotropy of fatigue life and crack growth parameters is observed. There were determined threshold stress intensity factors, and were estimated critical defect sizes. It is necessary to enhance the rolling technology to improve structural homogeneity.
